I had the unique opportunity to work on a project creating handcrafted curtains from antique linen. These fabrics came from old linen curtains and rolls, previously used in various properties, each with its own history. The process was meticulous and challenging, as the material varied significantly in weight, texture, and color.
After carefully washing and drying these vintage linen lots, I ironed and designed each set of curtains specifically for the rooms of Projektraum Drahnsdorf. This historic house, originally built in the 19th century and now functioning as a cultural and artistic residency, has retained much of its old-world charm. My aim was to create a harmonious look, tailoring the curtains to complement the unique character of each space, blending the past with the present.
This project demanded not only attention to detail but also a deep respect for the material, with a commitment to minimizing waste in both the design and crafting stages. Every curtain in this collection reflects a balance between sustainability, craftsmanship, and timeless beauty, contributing to the serene and creative atmosphere of Projektraum Drahnsdorf.
